Informational interviews are a great way to learn more about an industry and make professional contacts in their field.
Always remember that interview information should not be used to apply for a job. Rather, the interview should be focused on acquiring industry knowledge and useful information. Also remember the common label of being respectful of the provisions of your interviewee and stay within their guidelines proposed time.
In many cases, people are more than happy to offer information and advice. However, do not be discouraged if someone is not able to fit you in your busy schedule.
Be sure to send a thank you note after you complete your informational interview.
